Honestly, a very strange place, could have sworn it was abandoned except for the running water in the bathrooms. Everything from the swings and slides to the grills and picnic tables was tilted and rusty. The river wasn't really flowing, so it was just mossy and smelled bad. It was a fun place to explore, but in a this place is creepy and leave before dark kinda way. Not a bad pit stop, but you would have to be at least a little crazy to spend the night here, if that's even an option anymore. As a note to the citizens of Marlin, please do better. There's a lot of potential here.

This park is a great spot for some weekend camping. I believe they have camper hookups that work, but I can’t confirm, we didn’t use. We used primitive campsites right along the river. Great spots close to the water where you can hear the falls. Water is flowing but shallow (in some areas) enough to walk easily. Park contact Jonny was very nice and helpful. We paid $10/night. Showers work, cafe does not. Park is closed with a gate (that you have code for) for the night. Park needs a little upkeep. Grass is tall and lots of bugs, some picnic tables are falling apart.Left 4 starts just due to the upkeep, but overall a great spot!

We visited Marlin in mid-October -- many of the RV campgrounds were booked with transient construction workers (pipeliners) we were told. We looked at this site because it was off the main highway and was recommended for its nearness to the Brazos River --fishing opportunity. There is a new concessionaire --and the grounds were well kept. It's a couple of hundred yards to the river bank. The Falls are really a hard rock formation outcrop with easy fording for the wagons of early Texans crossing the river. --Wade fishing would be easy with hard rock bottoms . Night sky gazing would be good as it is away from any populated areas. A frontier settlement once was nearby (Bucksnort) -nothing left but a historical marker and the name of a bar in downtown Marlin.

Although we stayed in a tent and not a travel trailer, we had a blast. It was nice having electricity and water hook-ups, and the manager of the place was very nice and accomodating. It was also nice that the gate was locked after a certain time, so you didn't have to worry about cars and trucks driving through the park all night long.

We visited the Falls on the Brazos Park. It was just a plain, country style park with little to offer. Brush had grown up in numerous places, but the park was generally clean. This place has so much potential, but nobody seems to want to invest in it. What a shame, because it could be something. As it is, don't bother going out there...
