tripadvisorHave frequented Brown's Pool many years but this year, the staff includes an unpleasant senior citizen woman who takes your $6.00 admission and then instructs the life guards to stare you down instead of keeping an eye on all the kids that are unsupervised. I thought it was just me but the person I was sitting with asked me why they were staring at us in particular. Then, the senior citizen herself climbed onto the lifeguard post and stared us down too. What were we doing? Talking and supervising our kids. I didn't care for that experience and will cross that pool off our list. Staff that stalks makes for an unpleasant experience.
MoreLocated at the northern tip of San Angelo is a gem of a pool. Feeling like an old fashioned campground from back in the day, Brown’s packs a lot for the $5 admission (age 3 and under free). PLEASE NOTE- you can take in all the food you want for picnics and parties but NO OUTSIDE DRINKS ALLOWED. Beverages must be purchased on the premises. No glass containers allowed either. There are many covered picnic pavilions and grills for use in a large grassy area beside pool. The pool is very large and the shallow end is separated from the deep end with a cement wall. There are wide seating areas around the pool for sunbathing or watching children swim. Brown’s boasts the only high dive left in San Angelo, another smaller diving board and three slides, one of which is a huge, winding purple structure that’s very popular. There’s a bouncy castle to entertain kids as well as a large playground with wonderful vintage playground equipment and a sand volleyball court. There is a concession stand up front where you pay and a grill for ordering hot foods in a covered area in the back. Jukebox music is available and streams out over the pool. We most recently visited on 7/19/19 and there were four life guards on duty, all were attentive and we frequently heard them blowing a whistle to keep something in check. Many generations of families have enjoyed this pool, now it’s your turn!!
