tripadvisorUncertain how long we have been customers and advocates of Brazos Bookstore; apparently longer than I can remember. I am so grateful for those who started and continue to support this wonderful independent. Brazos is made up of our friends and neighbors who love literature. No, you will not find every author of every genre, current interest or forever classic on the Brazos shelves. You will find an eclectic selection of books for virtually any interest. Ask and you will find someone who wishes to help you in your search for whatever you may be looking. Thank you, Brazos. I'm wishing you another fifty years.
MoreNot a lot of selection of books. More empty space inside than books. Employees do NOT know anything about books and are clueless. I asked for a book author and the 1st employee pointed me to a book. I then asked if there was another title by the same author and a 2nd nosy employee came over saying the 1st person already told you that. No, they did not. I was asking for a separate title but by the same author. Note to store: some authors can actually write many books, not just one book. Also, hire people who have actual knowledge of books.
MoreLike many independent bookstores, Brazos is not very large yet is full of books & rich in quality prose. Really nice selection of books by international authors, and I appreciated the many book reviews composed by their employees and posted all around the store. (Truly, there were so many more hand written reviews than you typically see even in other indie bookstores). There was also a children's room with a selection of books that was new to me. When I travel, I seek out the indie bookstores wherever I go bc they are all so different with their own personalities and unique offerings.....Brazos Bookstore is well worth a visit; you will undoubtedly find something that grabs you!!!
MoreLovely independent bookstore with a wide variety of titles, cards, and stationary. Honestly, I haven't yet picked up a book that I didn't want to read (from any genre)! Their selection is top-notch, and I've actually stopped purchasing from Amazon ever since I've found out about Brazos. It's worth it. Every visit is a bit hazardous for my wallet, considering I've always left with at least 2 books and can easily spend an hour browsing through. If you're unsure of what to get, their staff is great with personalized recommendations. They hold regular events and book signings, too. Honestly, (and being from DC, makes me feel a bit ashamed to say this but) I like Brazos selection and layout better than Politics and Prose up in Washington, DC).
MoreA wonderful independent bookstore with a wide and interesting selection of books and cards, and a very helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, book-reading staff!
