tripadvisorThe boardwalk only went a short distance and then it was mud and grass . Probably will not be going back . Did not observe any alligators or other animals while we were there.
MoreIt's nice to get out and walk in the sunshine. Paths are easy and there are even a couple picnic tables. The nearby traffic noise is not too bad, you can enjoy some relaxing time in a nature environ for a few.
MoreThe Caloosahatchee River is a natural area in Cape Coral. You can get on the River by boat and explore the area. It’s natural and green.
MoreThe Caloosahatchee East and West Preserves each offer opportunities for walking trails. The East Preserve has longer trails offering both boardwalk and a bike trail . The bike trail is just under three miles and can be walked or dirt biked. It is muddy in places but is still a fun walk. You are out in the open sun so make sure you bring water. We walked it on a 70 degree day and were hot, hot, hot. You will find many people walking their dogs on leashes. Everyone did a great job of controlling their dogs and picking up after them. The dogs and their owners were friendly. The preserve as a whole is well maintained, quiet, and provides a nice break from a busy day. There is not a great deal of wild life. This is more about a quiet walk with the possibility of glimpses of the Caloosahatchee along the way.The West preserve offers a launch for Kayaks or canoes. You’ll need to be aware of the tides if you plan to launch here as the waters can be very shallow at times. The trails here are shorter, but again they are will maintained. It is a bit noisier here as you are closer to the highway. There are benches for sitting g and communing with nature along the trails.
MoreThis is one of our favorite getaways when we are overwhelmed with the noise and bustle of the everyday drum beat. It's a great way the get back to nature.
