Bear Creek War Monument Historical Monument

Etched in red granite, this touching monument honors those who paid the ultimate price for freedom. Military service personnel who lived in Harris County and lost their lives during World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf conflict are listed on this memorial that pays tribute to their lives. A moving ceremony is held every Memorial and Veterans Day to honor them, but you are welcome to visit anytime. The rest of the park offers other fun things to do, but stop for a few minutes and remember that these veterans are the reason you have the freedom to visit anytime you please.

Zoo, playground for kids, soccer field and nice cabanas to spend a great time with family and friends. Love this park! Well maintained, lots of security, the soccer tournaments are the best.

The monument is at the entrance of the park. The monument and the park are on my list of favorites here in Houston. History and respect, and yes, that's the pledge of allegiance. God bless Texas.

A mini zoo, golf course, walking trails, soccer fields and plenty of shelters for day picnic, this park has lot to offer. Sometime you can see deers too. Good place for family picnic or kid's birthday party.

Bear Creek War Monument is a part of Bear Creek Pioneers Park, a large park located west of downtown Houston, close to the western suburb of Katy. The Harris County War Monument honors citizens of Harris County who lost their lives on the battlefields and it contains the names of those who sacrificed, grouped according to the war in which they served. The War Monument is an important part of this park, but it’s far from being the only part. Bear Creek is popular with children and families and it’s easy to see why when you visit for the first time. There are animals in one section, and this is always a hit with young children. They will love looking at the birds, goats, and other animals as they explore the park. They will love the playground area, too, and parents will like the wide open space, ample parking, abundant picnic tables & grills, and more. Sports- minded individuals will like Bear Creek War Monument and park for its emphasis on physical activity. Within the boundaries of this large, 2,000+ acre park are tennis courts, baseball diamonds, horseshoe courts, soccer fields, and walking trails. And the park is located adjacent to a large golf course for quick access. Bear Creek War Monument is a nice tribute to the soldiers who died serving their country but the adjoining park is much more than that, with something to offer most anyone. There is no admission charge and its open every day of the week. It’s a very nice and large park with much to offer and I recommend a visit.

There's something for everyone in the family...a little zoo with buffalos, emus, goats, deer, pigs, also some birds like owls, parrots, peacock etc. There are plenty of choices of playgrounds in this park, along with soccer fields, tennis court. Good for biking as well. Also lots of picnic tables, grills, gazebos for that barbeque party you were thinking of...You can spend entire day here. But the park gets flooded in heavy rainfall...and stays like that for couple of days...so do check the conditions before planning! But in all this park is a big hit in our area!
