tripadvisorThe Sleep Inn Center City is clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff was helpful and friendly and the location is excellent, only about a mile from Independence Hall. Parking is right next door in a surface lot that is $35 a day , cash only. It does allow for in and out. It is a small hotel in Chinatown, so it is an urban hotel. I think every other Sleep Inn I have stayed in has been suburban. It was just a different experience that looks better from a distance than up close. The first room with we had was nice, although the window was open and the crank was missing to twist it shut. The second room also was clean, but the sink was cracked and the drain stopper was mostly down. The carpet didn’t look the cleanest in the room or hallways. The bedding was very nice. Breakfast was fine, although there are only 4 tables and one day we had to stand. The showers in both rooms were very nice and looked like they had recently been remodeled. Certainly not perfect, but what is? The nice staff and the ability to walk everywhere we wanted to go makes it right. I wouldn’t want to pay a whole lot more than we did, but if I am back in Philadelphia again I probably would stay there again.
MoreI stayed at this hotel for three nights with a group of colleagues. While the location is very convenient and centrally located within the city's Chinatown district, our overall experience was disappointing. The hotel appeared to be understaffed, and the employees who were available seemed overworked and fatigued. Housekeeping services were inconsistent. We had to request room cleaning several times before it was finally done, and when we asked for fresh towels, we had to wait nearly a full day to receive them. The breakfast, which we paid extra for, was particularly disappointing. The selection was very limited considering the cost, and items that ran out were often not replenished, leaving guests with even fewer options.Unfortunately, the quality of service did not match the price we paid. Although the location is a positive aspect of the property, the lack of adequate staffing, poor housekeeping, and unsatisfactory breakfast service made this an unpleasant experience overall. I would not choose to stay here again.
Moremy husband and i have spent three trips at the Philly Sleep Inn hotel and each time we REALLY enjoy ourselves. the room is fine, the breakfast is fine, it is centrally located in Philly's Chinatown and walking distance to the heart of Center City. what i LOVE about this hotel is the people -- the front desk folks are so helpful!!!it is a busy hotel and yet they always got us what we need -- extra towels, plates, whatever it may be, they got us just what we requested, making our stay really relaxing and enjoyable.perhaps just because of timing but during our last stay, every time we approached the front desk -- there was a delightful young man Owen, who was helpful and has a great sense of humor.we are very happy with the Choice Hotel chain and the Philly Sleep Inn demonstrates why in every way.
MoreWe stayed at The Sleep Inn for 3 nights. The parking attendant arrived by the car as soon as we parked and took our fee for the stay. We then went to check in….. and it appeared that our reservation (made 9 months earlier) had been cancelled. The two lovely and helpful receptionists sorted it for us thankfully. We had travelled from London and then drove from New York to Philadelphia, so this was the last thing we needed. We were grateful for their help-I had confirmation of the booking and that it had been paid for. After almost an hour, we were given the key to our room which was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental and fresh. The breakfast area is very small but run by a lovely gentleman who kept the area clean, tidy and well stocked.Despite the initial problem, this place is well situated and perfect for a short stay. We would stay again. To the management-the two young ladies on reception are a credit to your business. Don’t lose them!
MoreThis hotel is located right in the heart of Chinatown in Philadelphia, within easy walking distance of numerous great restaurants as well as the Reading Terminal and the Convention Center. The room itself was comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly. This is, however, not one of Choice Hotel's better properties. It was hard to find the hotel because there was no sign on the building, only one by the parking lot that was confusing. When we pulled into the parking lot and asked where the hotel was, we got yelled at by the rude attendant. The hotel itself does not have parking, but it is inches away from a parking lot that charges $25 cash $28 credit. The price is, however, great for the area. You can also find on-street parking, but you have to keep feeding the parking kiosk. The carpets are badly stained and show a lack of attention to upkeep. The hotel charges $5 if you don't return the little plastic key card, which I have never seen at a Choice brand before. The front desk person said that was because the owner tries to squeeze every penny out of the place. That would explain the badly stained carpets in the hallways. When we decided to extend our stay in Philadelphia, we decided to stay elsewhere.
