Ragged Coast Chocolates Gifts

At Ragged Coast, we make all of our confections with fresh cream and butter from local farms. We buy or trade for fresh herbs, fruits, vegetables, and edible flowers with Maine farmers and gardeners we've met along the way--at farmers' markets, on the road, in our shops, or on their farms. We use premium teas, organic, locally roasted coffee, and whole spices to flavor our confections. And we source single origin, sustainably-grown chocolates from producers in Latin America.

These are some of the best chocolates I've ever had. Some of my favorite truffles are the lemon coated with white chocolate, the caramel, and the flamingo. Ragged Coast chocolates are available at gourmet stores in the general Portland area but you really should seek their shop out by Westbrook's Saccarappa Falls. I'm a 'local' and only live a 15-minute drive away, but I hope the many tourists who come to the Portland area discover this place (and write a few reviews in addition to my three so far).

We got a few chocolate truffles to go. I especially like their flamingo truffle, but they're all good. Beautiful presentation. Ragged Coast chocolates are available at gourmet stores in the general Portland area if you can't make it to their shop in Westbrook.

I'm surprised there aren't more TripAdvisor reviews of this place because it's a true little gem in Westbrook and the entire Portland area. They've won several awards, including 'Top Ten Chocolatier in North America' and 'Maine's Best Chocolate'. I bought a box of 18 assorted milk and dark chocolate truffles, and each one was a delectable little work of art. These chocolates aren't cheap -- they're around $2.00 each -- but they're worth it, and you savor every bite. They have high-quality ingredients, spectacular flavor, beautiful presentation, and they're boxed with simple elegance. There are also holiday edition truffles right now , like eggnog and champagne pear. Their drinking chocolate mix is also fantastic. Great, great place!

They have a tiny factory shop in Westbrook that has a nice display of their chocolate. I bought some truffles and a few bulk bags of plain white and milk chocolate pieces. The truffles were outstanding and so beautifully decorated with artsy designs almost too pretty to eat. The plain chocolate was also incredibly good. I had bought one of their chocolate bars at the Cheese Iron in Scarborough a few weeks before, and that was also great. Their chocolates are masterfully made with the very best local ingredients and premium chocolate from S. America and are worth every cent.

We first learned of this local chocolatier when we received a chololate Santa years ago when they were still located at the Isle au Haut. We purchased some for Christmas last winter and we amazed at the quality of the chocolates. My wife and I went to their small Westbrook store and bought a box for my office staff for Valentines Day. They are expensive but if you are a chocolate lover, they are worth it.
