The Stark Museum of Art is the vision of H.J. Lutcher and Nelda C. Stark. Opened in 1978, it is among the best repositories in the country featuring Western American art from the 19th and 20th Centuries. Its impressive collection includes Western, Decorative and American Indian art and rare manuscripts. Check the dramatic landscapes, wildlife, sculptures, prints, objects and pottery. Stroll through the five galleries that house the works of artists like Charles Marion Russell, John James Audubon, Georgia O’Keeffe and Frederic Remington. You can buy posters and books from their on-site store as well.

tripadvisorThis is a charming art museum with an emphasis on Western and Southwestern art. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
MoreExcellent exhibition, well presented, well explained. Great art. Definitely worth a detour, I enjoyed it a lot more than many of the bigger museum in Houston.
MoreThis is an excellent museum in one of the most unexpected of locations. However, there is NO PARKING and NO SIGNAGE for visitors on where to park and enter. I circled the museum three times before just parking in the AT&T parking lot and walking up to whatever door would open. It's like they forgot to design an obvious entrance. It would be nice if they had a bistro or cafe for lunch or dinner. I feel like they would get more visitors since there aren't many nice restaurants in the area.
MoreWow, what an wonderful collection! And it's FREE! I'm not a big art fanatic and so I wouldn't have gone if it wasn't free but I was totally impressed and glad I went!
MoreAnother fantastic gift to the SETX community. Wonderful western art collection. Also has a complete 50 state collection of Steuben crystal. Temporary exhibits are always a reason to go back. Wonderful, knowledgeable staff, and again, it’s FREE.
