Village Creek State Park is a great little park on the edge of The Big Thicket in southeast Texas. It takes less than a 5-minute drive to reach the city of Lumberton where's there is plenty of shopping, stores and restaurants. This small, beautiful State Park offers 25 RV sites, 1 up to 8 person A/C cabin, day use and hike-in camping. Reservations are recommended. The park upkeep (campsites, trails and bathroom) was very good. The entire staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and the check-in process was fast. A great place for hiking and paddling where you can rent kayaks, canoes and stand-up boards. Keep in mind that bug repellant is an absolute must. Also, the hike-in camping area is currently close. Give this great, little State Park a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Staff is amazing and super friendly, not to mention very helpful with their knowledge of the trails and the river. Once if the best maintained trails systems I've ever hiked and biked on.

One of the best cabins in the state with amazing park staff. One of many great Texas State Park located in the Big Thicket. If you want to reconnect with nature and enjoy hiking/kayaking then check this one out.

Nice place to RV camp. Enjoyed the hiking, but the longer trails were closed which didn't leave a lot of variety of choices. Looked like some great walk in campsites for tents.

It's a shame they took such a beating from Hurricane Harvey and 1/2 the park remains inaccessible. But, you can indeed get away from it all easily by hiking their trails or camping or just picnicing here. We hiked on several of the opened trails and loved the pines and sloughs and East Texas charm. We passed the walk-in campsites and they were very nice; nicer than most. A lot of their creek waterfront got lost away, and I assuming a dock with it, so they aren't a suitable put-in or take-out for canoeing the creek anymore, which is a pity. But, you can see it and smell it, and it's gorgeous, so step out into nature and enjoy it all.
