tripadvisorWe LOVE the STAGE theater and try to attend all the plays here that we can! It's a very small venue but that's one of the reasons we love it! The productions are reasonably priced and feature great talent! All seating is fairly near the stage! During intermission they sell delicious desserts (some homemade)! I only wish they started productions a little earlier than 8pm but I have no other complaints! You'll love this little gem of a place! It's worth the drive!
MoreOn a long weekend family reunion in the San Antonio area, we were looking for live theater choices. The San Antonio theaters were either between performances or were inappropriate. We extended our search and found this little gem of a theater in the remote community of Bulverde. We called for reservations for their production of Night Comes Early, a comedy. They took our party information and required no deposit. We were also told that a cafeteria style pre-performance dinner would be available at $10 per plate. So... we made the dinner and play part of our plans. We arrived at 6:30 and were admitted to the lobby where chairs and tables were set up. Along the wall was a serving line. Plate dinners were sold at $10 each, but nice sandwiches were available for $3. I opted for the meatloaf dinner with two sides and salad. The salad was fresh and delicious. The meatloaf and sides were good enough - sort of reminded me of a potluck church social. After eating, we found our seats in the smallish theater - it seats about 100, I think. There was pre-show entertainment provided by a lady who sang 50s - 60s favorites. Her voice was soothing and she really got the audience involved. It's here that I will tell you that approximately 75% of the patrons are over 70. We really enjoyed seeing the golden agers singing along. The cast was pretty good for a local theater. Some of the actor/actress ages did not match up to their characters (typical of a small pool of actors), but they did a fine job. The production was done well and we had lots of laughs. It was a unique little experience. I would certainly return on another trip.
