tripadvisorThis is a must see!! I thought this was the most impressive of the 3 missions we saw in San Antonio. It was so big! Unfortunately we got there shortly before mass was supposed to start so we had to quickly make our way to the church so we could peak inside. We didn’t have much time to look around before we had to leave. I wish we would have started here.
MoreIf you only have time to go to one mission in San Antonio, make it this one. It is extremely well preserved and very well taken care of! It’s beautiful! I highly recommend this.
MorePreserved mission - like it was before San Antonio became a big city. Everything is within brick walls with a big courtyard and rooms that were kitchens and sleeping areas. There's even the wells where they drew their water. You get to see the church from the outside as well as inside. There are interpretive signs throughout. Well-maintained; feel like you're back 100 years ago. It is right off a trail system that connects the parks through San Antonio. One thing to note. We got there at 9:00 when they open. The gift shop didn't open until 10:00
MoreThe Mission San Jose known as the Queen of Missions was established in 1720 and is the largest of the missions and a World Heritage site. Like Mission Conception it is as interesting as the Alamo and located outside of town on a large open area. Well worth a visit.
MoreNice historic site to visit. Very accessible. Wasn't crowded when we went in the mid day on a Friday even.
