tripadvisorIncredible uncrowded beach with waves. The sand is clean, but don't expect tp in the porto potties. It was fun to watch all the wildlife and the ships pass by.
Morei would have to say it'd be better with a dog who apparently doesn't like getting his feet wet at the beach. lol. no it was great!
MoreReading other reviews, I believe some people are confusing this beach with the main beach. You have to drive to this beach. It is NOT free. There is not a Pavillion with a bathhouse. It is not on the seawall. You pay $15 to enter this beach, and you can not return if you leave. We accidentally turned out onto the road and made an immediate u turn back in and the rude lady said, THAT part of the road isn't part of MY beach, only this part! We apologized and said we didn't know. But bless her heart that she refers to it as HER beach and feels the need to power trip on people making U turns. Anyway, there was LOTS of trash. We did see a lot of wildlife, but it's definitely not a must do if you're in the area. You can safely skip it.
MoreGreat beach if you go after 6 pm it's free. Before that, $15 per car. You can see the big ships coming in. Clean beach and fun times.
MoreGalveston Island along Seawall was easy to walk and had several places for food and drink. There is a Walmart and Kroger. Went to old town and had a great time, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, and some bars. The only negative was the cleanliness of the beach, not good. Not sure if city cleans it up, but did not look like it had been done for a while.
