tripadvisorThe staff is very friendly, and fair warning that it is not a lazy river! Be sure to wear water shoes, because the majority of the river is rocks, so any chance of stopping is with your feet, so save your soles and wear shoes!! There are plenty of places to stop along the way for a cool beer, but its not really a paddle and drink kind of river… But, we had a blast!! Have to watch out for trees. We defninitly had some scrapes, but overall a great time!
MoreNiles water sports have wonderful people that explain the river before we even got into the water we knew this river was not a lazy river before we ever got in thanks to them. I would recommend this river for anybody who wants to be adventurous it's a wonderful hour float if you were in tubes and an amazing kayak ride that keeps things interesting around every corner. If you tend to be a city dweller and stay inside most of your time I do not recommend this river but if you like adventure and want to experience a beautiful challenging River this is the place for you I have never kayak before in my life but I went back almost twice a week and learned how to kayak on this river it is not white water rapids but it is also not a lazy float. Niles water sports was a wonderful summer experience!!!!!!
MoreI would not suggest coming to this tubing experience because chances are you will fall out of your tube multiple times and be scraped all over your body with branches. My friends and I were stuck by a huge branch in the water and there was no escape with the strong current. All of the adults who were kayaking with us flipped and ended up holding on to some girls tubes to move down the river. We waited about 30 minutes by the huge branch until an adult showed up to help us. I should also mention that before we started the trip the owners of the tubing place told us a girl had broken her leg on one of the tree branches the past week. Note: They do not make everyone wear life vests!
MoreI went into this trip expecting a lazy river but got more of a rapids experience. The first 30 minutes of the trip were easy going and really enjoyable. After that the current got a lot faster and my tube kept getting stuck behind fallen trees and logs. The water was very deep so it was hard to get around the tree branches once you got stuck. Overall if you are an adult looking for a challenge this is the place for you. I wouldn't suggest this for anyone with children.
MoreI wish we would have known just what we were getting into. Our party consisted of two ladies and two children (ages 7 & 11). The owner/operator was very pleasant and helpful. First I will say that we had moments of fun. Parts of the river were shallow and the kids could get out and throw stones and swim around. However, there were also parts where we were swept by the current into branches and cut up. There was also a time when we were caught in fallen trees and were scared we wouldn't be able to free ourselves because the current was so strong and fast. It was exhausting. We were glad when it was over. If we had known all of this going in, we just wouldn't have brought the children. Perhaps, because of recent rain, the river higher and therefore faster. The day we went should have been limited to strong adults looking for adventure. Then it would have been awesome! The river has beautiful portions, no doubt. There were peaceful, quiet parts of the ride. BUT there were also parts cluttered with ugly debris (dirty mattresses, old tires, abandoned metal scraps, and trash). Before going, and when considering including children, I would recommend a talk with the owner (Mike) about what to expect and the current river conditions.
