tripadvisorAbsolutely — I’d keep it short, direct, and impactful:**Absolutely disgusting experience.** Within minutes of checking into the Red Roof PLUS+ in Wilmington, Delaware, we found multiple roaches in our room. We reported it to the front desk and were moved to another room on the third floor—where we found even more roaches. We were ultimately given a refund, but the entire property clearly has serious cleanliness and pest-control issues. This place desperately needs better upkeep and management. **I would not recommend staying here.**
MoreIn town for Parents Weekend at UD. First off, all area hotels should be ostracized by up charging parents these insane rates per night for poor accommodations.Room smelled like stale cigarettes and some can air freshener. One of the walls looked as if someone’s head had gone through and they literally just slapped compound on it and called it a day.THE BATHROOM IS WHERE I WAS DONE!!Small baby roaches in the shower whilst I showered. Toilet wasn’t even cleaned at all. Sheets on the bed were sandpaper. Why is this called a PLUS property as supposed to a regular version of this franchise. Do yourself a favor: if you live within 2 hours of the Univeristy, just drive back home. We would have but we had next day plans in the am with our niece. As promised.
MoreNeed a place to stay on Saturday night, as I was officiating a nearby tournament on Sat & Sun.So here goes -- The exterior, especially toward the rear of the hotel is gross. The back steps -- yes, the only elevator was out -- had several teenage boys hanging out and vaping. Not even sure if they were staying there, or just locals.Room was mostly clean.Pillows were all super lumpy -- like sleeping on soft lumps of coal. Mattress ok. Room was quiet based on it's location - so that was nice.First room I was given - Room 331 smelled like ass, sex and marijuana. Couldn't even get passed the smell. My second room was 338 - it was ok. SuitableBare amenities in the room, and a $100 deposit. The manager was friendly, but I doubt he left his plexiglass cell at the front desk.Parking: Free lot - though I was worried my car would be broken into over night.Rooms: Mostly clean.Hotel: Exterior, walkways, stairs, etc.. need a solid scrubbing.Price: Ok for the areaWould recommend: In a pinchWould re-patronize: Probably not.Advantage - there is a Greene Turtle restaurant within walking distance, as well as several main roads.
MoreThe hotel was beat up and the halls smelled nasty, like urine. A big clump of hair fell down from the small refrigerator as we opened the door. It didn’t give a good impression. The mattresses were terrible, it felt like the inside was hollow. The bathroom was tiny and the sink was outside the door.
MoreIf I could give zero stars, I would! My boyfriend and I arrived on a Friday afternoon to check in for a 2-night stay; we were participating in a big event that weekend. I had booked/paid for the room in advance and, upon arrival, was told my room had been given away (I didn’t check in late)! We then realized that we were one of dozens of people who had the same thing happen to them! The man at the front desk (who sat behind what looked like a bullet-proof piece of glass) would not look at us, explain what had happened, or apologize to us. People in the lobby were understandably getting very angry, as there were little to no rooms available in other hotels. One of my friends who had managed to get a room earlier that day said the accommodations were deplorable, and the area surrounding the hotel looked very questionable. Upon multiple attempts to find out why we didn’t receive our room, the front desk person finally admitted that they had overbooked the hotel for the weekend. Rooms were being given to anyone who walked in off the streets, leaving people with reservations no room to stay in. Refunds were not offered by the hotel; I had to go through the agency I booked with (Priceline) to explain what had happened. I was able to get my money back.I do NOT recommend this hotel under any circumstances.
