I am from out-of-state and travel to Rochester once a year for Mayo Clinic appointments. I happened to one year, by chance, make an appointment at Cloud 9 Spa for a full body massage. OMG...it was literally life-changing! I felt rejuvenated for 3-4 months. It was the most refreshing experience and, by far, THE best massage I've ever had- and I have had many over the course of my life. I can't say enough good things about Cloud 9: I am always treated to friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere. I never come to Rochester without making an appointment. There are 2 locations managed by the same owner, both in the immediate vicinity and within walking distance of Mayo. Bao is always able to accommodate my medical appointment schedule with a massage, even on short notice. Qing was my masseuse last December, and she was exceptional. Love these professionals!Don't be swayed by the negative reviews. Be assured, Cloud 9 is the real deal.

I'm older now and feeling my age. One of my problems is that my legs don't last long before needing to sit down. I went for a massage at Cloud 9 spa. They worked on my entire body but mostly on my lower back and legs. By the time I left it felt like I had a new set of legs under me. Felt that way all the rest of the day and into the night.

I asked for a deep tissue massage because I work our very hard and have a lot of tightness. My appt was a little late because she was tied up with someone else, but i understand. Once back in the room, I must admit it was hard to understand her broken English but we made it through. However she did provide a top notch massage. It hurt, but it needed to. I received what I presume to be extra services, like hot stones and facial massage, and they both were wonderful, but I did get charged a little more than I had booked for. It was all worth it so I was happy with paying more and even leaving more tip. I would recommend but be clear about what you do and don't want.

After several very long days at the Mayo clinic I needed a massage. I found one not far because walking is hard for me. Cloud 9 spa said they would do a 90 minute massage for $105. I got there my therapist speaks little to no English asks type of pressure, I asked if it's more, she gets frustrated and says type of pressure, I said medium. She also said hot stone, good for you. I once again asked if it cost more, she's like no, no it's good for you. She proceeds to go a glorified foot and body massage, you know the one that costs $35 dollars. Not actually massage, I asked her to rub my skin at one point, it would obvious she had no idea what she was doing. My time was up, and I went to pay, I was told the price they gave me just 4 hours earlier were old prices, new Total was $155. Seriously? You can't do that. They mention that they weren't actually massage therapist. Needless to say not the kind of stress I needed after traveling all this way. I didn't know that in Minnesota massage therapist don't have to be licensed or trained to call them selves a massage therapist. Dangerous and deceiving. Make sure you know what your getting your self into before you go.

I've gotten massages in China, Japan, Indonesia, Korea and India. And... plenty as well in the US -- I am an American. I don't judge the Chinese staff at Cloud Nine based on how versed they are at American niceties before and after the massage nor their English; my criteria is the type of massage they give. They are skilled professionals with knowledge of energy meridians and pressure points. Their massages tend to be more vigorous. My experiences with American massages on the other hand is that they are focused on relaxation, with more light and gentle stroking. Different strokes for different massage folks. Having been a customer at Cloud Nine for three years now, I would not feel satisfied with an American massage.
