Deep Eddy Pool Swim Center ·$

Deep Eddy Pool is the oldest swimming pool in Texas. The water supply for the pool comes from an artesian well, drawing many to the fresh waters of this popular gathering place. A longtime favorite of locals for its sunbathing lawn and child-friendly atmosphere, Deep Eddy has a shallow end large enough for groups of people to wade in. Located just west of downtown, this is a convenient location for a morning swim. Morning hours are designated for lap swimmers. Those with disabilities may call in advance to secure handicapped access, as the stairs leading down to the pool are not wheelchair accessible.

We visited this area with my family this morning for someplace to swim. It was clean and inexpensive. The pool was chilly because it’s still only spring time. The weather was great and we enjoyed some cool.

My wife and I were in town for a few days and I needed to get in some laps. We rode bikes on the trail out to the pool which was a nice warmup. It was 8-9$ for non residents which is cheaper than most YMCA’s daily rate. I was able to share a lane immediately. The water was clear and cool and made lap swimming in the Texas heat a joy. I actually liked the longer pool length which better simulates open water swimming.Definitely, a great place to train.

Make sure you bring enough cash for the entrance fee and any snacks you want. Although you can use a credit card to buy your entrance fee the machine it doesn’t always work. You’ll have sad kids if you get there and the ticket machine is down.

This is definitely a swimming hole! Huge & full during the summer with dogs, people, and all manner of personal watercraft like canoes, kayaks & SUP. Fun, hot, dirty, cool water - get there early!
