tripadvisorExcellent trip made especially grand at The JW MARRIOTT. What a wonderful site to see the Congress Ave bats from the hotel room, have opportunities to dine at exceptional restaurants within and around the space. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our short business trip.
MoreI have no idea what the buzz is about for this street. I thought it was going to be little shops that offered unique finds and artwork, local wares, etc….. instead it was just boring expensive stores with restaurants. The only place we stumbled upon that I enjoyed was the Driskell hotel ; loved the history , architecture and paintings. I hey even have a small cafe , but they do close at 2pm. We also did find a few interesting murals/artwork as we meandered around . Obviously this is not the place for me, there are other places I would enjoy walking around much more.
MoreSome shopping like marine layer and Patagonia and yeti, river trailArea, capital, . One medical and Citi bank are on Congress.. more homeless on Congress and east of it . We stick to 2nd and west side mostly but I go to the post office on 8th Congress allThe time . The real shopping, Perla’s , aba is so co.. so stay on Congress across the river .. great views of capital building .
MoreI parked in a parkade in downtown Austin to check out the famous Congress Avenue. Lots of shops and restaurants, then I noticed the State Capitol, so I made a direct line for that instead of walking along Congress. When returning to my vehicle, I noticed that for the amount of time I was parked, it was very expensive!
MoreJust meander along Congress Avenue. It’s a happening place. We were there during the Texas Book Festival and there were many food trucks and vendors, too. Sadly there are a lot of homeless people along the street.
