I live in the Austin area, and Terra Toys never disappoints our out-of-town guests. If you have kids, entertain kids or are a kid at heart you'll love this place. The staff is knowledgeable, the quality of merchandise is excellent and they carry items you can't find anywhere else. It's an Austin gem and I hope it's around forever.

What a great toy store! I thought it was going to be all the plastic big name brands but that is not the case. These are carefully chosen brand toys made out of good and durable materials with high quality.The toy store is very well divided into sections and around the store there are small play areas for the little shoppers to play! Loved that.

A flight of fancy for children ages 1-85... what a fun place! Recently stopped by Terra Toys to return a Christmas gift (duplicate), taking a couple of young grandchildren along. It was their first time there. OMG! Sensory overload... LOL So many things to see, and something for everyone. Toys, both old and new, candies, books, stuffed animals, spy kit stuff, crafts, games... we had to talk them into leaving the store, but only with a promise to return soon! LOL Recommend Terra Toys, super fun place to explore...

Much more than an amazing toy shop, this magical place is an Austin institution. They cater to everyone, from newborn to teens and beyond. Allow plenty of time to explore the shop’s many sections. The bookshop on the back is amazing, as is the puppet theatre and huge selection of puppets. They have an impressive science/STEM area as well. The art supplies wall and crafts make me want to try all the things. There’s a nice clothing and accessories boutique on site (they also own KidOshoe a few doors down), as well as a great espresso bar, complete with chess/checkers table and Zoltar fortune-telling machine (naturally). I love the absence of most mainstream commercialized, movie-character-driven toys here- but lots of high-quality, well thought out items from around the world. My son likes the exotic instruments and wind-up music boxes in the music section, my daughter is always discovering new interests throughout the shop, and I love having my kids as my excuse to keep coming back. It’s one of the first places I bring out of town visitors, regardless of age, to indulge their inner child. The employees embody the local Keep Austin Weird vibe, and are all expert toy folks. There was something for everyone. I purchased a toy for my 4 year old nephew and my 68 year old mom. In addition to the great selection of toys and gifts, they had wonderful candies. When I visit Austin again I would really be happy to go there once more.
