tripadvisorI had wanted to do this for some time and thought that Canalside Buffalo was the only place; turns out that the same adventure is available along the Canal in North Tonawanda. Last summer I went with a friend and we paid for the hour long ride so we could enjoy the beautiful weather and the sights along the canal. There is definitely work involved but it is great exercise! I would recommend you only go a short distance the first time out, as you still have to get back within the time limit - we went quite a ways down the canal but we really had to push to return, and by the time we got back my legs and behind were quite sore. :( You can stand up to pedal but if you have any balance issues this can be tricky. My suggestion would be take a 1/2 hour ride so you know what's involved and where you want to go; next time you can shoot for the full hour if you feel you're up to the challenge.
MoreThe bike service was great. Quick and friendly service. The canal was a little boring the day we rode. Not a ton to look at.
MoreWaterbike Adventures was perfect! The website directs you where to park and find them. The prices were extremely reasonable! We rented 3 waterbikes and 1 kayak. $12 an hour for each. The workers were incredibly nice and helpful. The area you kayak and waterbike in is beautiful and calm. We had an amazing time and plan to return.
MoreI was looking for a place to rent a boat or jet ski in the area and was told about this place from a hotel staffer. In the way, I asked a few police officers for directions and they told me how much fun we would have and to make sure we did the wate bikes. We took their advice and had a blast. It's a work out but awesome fun. The owners are great guys who genuinely want people to enjoy themselves. If you visit on a Thursday you will have the benefit of the food trucks and concert on the green the town holds weekly. Highly recommend and will do it again.
MoreA few weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to do something new and different this summer and after some thought and input from friends on facebook, I chose this! I had seen some people on the waterbikes last summer and it looked like fun SOOOOOOOOOOOooooo today was the day. It finally worked out for two friends and myself to drive from Lockport to Tonawanda Gateway Harbor and rent hydrobikes and peddle for a whole hour. We chose to go to the right on Ellicott Creek since it appeared to have less water traffic. At the end we went out into the Erie Canal for a a few minutes, in order to get a different perspective. We absolutely LOVED our experience. The guy running this attraction was very helpful and gave us sufficient information to get started. What more can I say!!! Oh yes, only ten dollars for a full hour and that is plenty of time. I hope readers of this review will consider this attraction.
