Established in 1927, ALT is one of the oldest continuously operating community theatres in the country. Managed and operated by a staff of theatre professionals, the theatre is a 501 ( c ) and is governed by a board of directors comprised of 25 community volunteers.ALT is an important small business in the Amarillo economy with an annual budget of just over $900, 000. Over 80% of the theatre's income is "earned" revenue derived from ticket sales, advertising and academy tuition. The remaining 15-20% is "unearned" revenue from contributions and grants. Financial support for ALT comes from numerous individuals, businesses and foundations which believe the theatre to be an important element in our community's well being.ALT employs six to eight full-time staff and an additional six to ten part-time employees who teach classes in the dance and theatre academies. Much of ALT's expense budget is spent locally with lumber suppliers, paint companies, printers, fabric stores and office supply companies, etc.

tripadvisorA true gem in the Texas panhandle. If you enjoy live theatre ALT is a must. Each season this an assortment of offerings. Comedy, drama and musical. I highly recommend you make plans to attend.
MoreWe have attended countless shows at ALT, and they have all been amazing, magical, and memorable! ALT Academy shows are appropriate for children, and regular ALT shows vary in age appropriateness. This is a date night favorite for us, and our children, 10 and 14, love theater nights too!
MoreIn honesty, I've been going to the ALT since I was a little girl, which was a long time ago. The quality of the actors, set design, direction, and sound is on par with any community theater I've seen, which is several. The productions are original/unique and the actors are all strong. I recently saw Sweeney Todd, which is a musical I dislike. It was by far the best performance of this show that I've seen, including Broadway. The reason is that the characters stood out and I appreciated the story for the first time. Brava!
MoreAmarillo Little Theatre has a great program to showcase local talent. The latest show was wonderful!!! Great actors and stage decor. I am new as a season ticket holder and can’t wait to see all the shows!
MoreJust finished watching Sister Act for the finale show of the 2017-2018 season. I must say it was a first class musical production. We have seen Broadway shows in London, New York, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Operas in Paris and Milan. But for a town the size of Amarillo these are excellent performances with good talent and fully I recommend you go see one for yourself then consider getting a season ticket you won't be disappointed. The Savannah Sipping Society was also very well done. When you buy season tickets which are very reasonable priced they are very flexible and you have a choice of different nights to fit your schedule for each performance. There is light free food served on opening nights also.
