tripadvisorWhat a wonderful collection from all over the world! Not something you expect to find in Post TX! We would highly recommend it to anyone! Open right now only on Thursday and Friday. Exhibits that are out at this time will be available thru the end of September. They will be putting out an entirelydifferent collection for the Christmas season that will stay through January. Can't wait to go back to see this new part of this incredible collection.
MoreMy wife and I were driving across the plains and we’re nearing Post, Texas and we decided to look on TripAdvisor to see what was interesting and post. When I read about this museum, I knew it would be worth a visit worth our time. We went up the stairs to the museum area and I was immediately greeted by a Charles Russell and a Frederick Remington lithograph, and then was pleasantly surprised to find a Frederick Remington original oil. As I was commenting to my wife about this discovery, the Director of the museum, Christy Morris, happened upon us. A retired history teacher, Christy took the time to give us a personal tour of the artifacts and art that were currently on display. Turns out the scion of a local ranch, the OS, was a collector. He traveled to 130+ countries before his death, accumulating pieces that were of interest to him. Think about it: West Texas rancher with means marching to the beat of his own drummer—it added up to an eclectic and exquisite collection. You also will learn about C W Post—the inventor of Grape Nuts—for whom the town is named. Pull in, it’s one of those hidden gems.
MoreWe had been told about the OS museum since moving to Lubbock almost a year ago. When family came to town we took the short trip to Post. This museum is wonderful with amazing displays collected from all over the world. We can't wait to come back in June and see the new display.
MoreThis is one of the best art experiences. So many beautiful pieces from so many genres and so many places around the world and beautifully displayed that it's not to be missed. The collection is changed three times a year with the Christmas display setting up in September and continuing to January. A wonderful place to spend a few hours.
MoreChristmas exhibits were out and oh so so impressive. Unbelievable family heirlooms worth millions of dollars. The lady that brought us in had worked for the foundation for 18 years and was very very informative, helpful and took great pride in her museum. She took time to turn the Christmas music on of course which made a hit with both of us. Yes this place belongs in your bucket list. They change out the exhibits three times a year. Well worth the trip. Now I am wondering what the other exhibits are, go figure now I get to come back. Retired Chef Gene
