Andy Shaw teaches people how to sing. Singers of all skill levels are welcome, including complete beginners. Andy is comfortable coaching a variety of singing styles, including pop, r and b, rock, alternative, Broadway, jazz, blues and country music. Andy emphasizes the great importance of learning the mechanics of singing; proper breathing and posture, correct use of the the larynx, tongue, jaw, soft palate and more. Students work on singing in tune, increasing range and power, and singing with flexibility and ease. All exercises are recorded for the student to use at home. Andy can accompany students on piano in most any style of music, and can transpose keys on sight, to find the best key for each singer. Students who accompany themselves on guitar are welcome. Andy will provide recorded piano accompaniments in the student's key for students to practice with at home or in their car. Andy also specializes in working with people who think they cannot sing. In most cases, Andy can get them singing.
