Located in San Pedro, the beach is named after Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. He was the first European to sail through the coastline of California. The beach is divided by the breakwater into the inner beach and outer beach. While the outer beach is popular for water sports such as Kayaking, Surfing and Scuba diving, the inner beach has calm and steady waves that make it an ideal spot for swimming. Besides the white sand beach, it also houses various complex one of which features the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. The aquarium educates visitors about the marine life of Cabrillo in the past as well as the present. Besides the aquarium, other main attractions are the Cabrillo pier and the Angel's Gate Lighthouse.

tripadvisorGuy trip one of the stops. Tried to bay but could not get parking machine to work. Some people walking some people fishing and we were just looking. Drove to the end of the Jetty where the ships must have tied up for Fort Not cold and not hot - interesting to see. Stayed in the parking area and did not walk to the end. Lifeguard on duty in one of the shacks. Interesting to see, to bad they did not have a history sign for you to understand the background.
MoreCabrillo Beach is adjacent to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and an outdoor playground. Bring children to this area for education (sea creatures in the aquarium), for expelling excess energy on the playground equipment and for running on the beach.
MoreWhen I wake up early enough, I love to visit at sunrise; the early exercise walking out to the pier, and photos of the sunrise over the harbor are spectacular.
MoreWe stopped here to walk on the pier to get pictures of the Los Angeles Harbor lighthouse. Parking was easy. We found port-a-potties, but no women’s rest rooms. The walk on the pier was good. We had good views of the lighthouse. Lots of people were fishing. Most local venues don’t allow people to walk in to use the bathroom. We weren’t able to stay at the beach, but it looked like it would have been nice to stay.
Moreit is not sugar white beaches, but the beaches are nice a varied. From full sand to rocky shore this is a fun free experience.
