The mailing address is Anchorage but you fly in a bush plane with 6 other people 80 miles outside of Anchorage into a beautiful and remote Alaska Fishing lodge. With two helicopters there, they take you to the most amazing sites you have heard about and are about to see. They are able to drop you into rivers and streams that are only accessible by helicopter for the ultimate fishing experience. This was my anniversary gift to my husband (and I). David researched lodges thoroughly and decided on Talaheim Lodge. Everything they promise on their website is that much and more. We were greeted by the staff upon arrival by plane, and shown our accommodations. We loved our cabin next to the lodge and it was the perfect comfy cozy room to come home to after a long day on the water. The food was amazing and more than plentiful. I had to ask for half portions. The guides all knowledgeable, the sights seen from a helicopter priceless including a HUGE grizzly on a ridge, 3 black wolves and bull moose grazing. One day after fishing, they flew us up on a glacier to explore and walk around with a stunning view of the valley below. Another guest flew up earlier with a guide to take a long hike, eating berries along the way. Both my husband and I are experience flyfishers and the fishing was smokin' hot! We lost count of fish count within the first hour or two. They are measured by pounds not by inches. Silvers, Dollies, Pinks, 'Bows, on and on......Since this is a small lodge, you became friendly with the other guests and staff pretty quick. A fun group. I appreciated the snacks and drinks in the mini fridge that was refreshed daily as well as the Alaska Ale on tap and wine after a long rewarding day out. The scenery spectacular and whole experience amazing We would go back in a heart beat and hope to soon.
