Perched on the shores of Lake Michigan, Lakeshore State Park is a beautiful green space which proffers many activities like picnicking, sunbathing, walking and jogging among others. Accentuated by the serene waters of Lake Michigan, this pleasant state park is pervaded with whiffs of balmy and soothing gusts of wind. Fringed by a tapestry of soaring, urbane buildings, this park, although being in the midst of the city, offers moments of peace and repose from Milwaukee's contemporary cacophony. Located within close proximity to Discovery World and the Milwaukee Art Museum, this park is also a favored fishing destination. Home to a marina and tracery of winding trails, this state park serves as a backdrop for various spectacles and shows like the popular Lakefront Festival of the Arts.

tripadvisorI always wanted to go to this state park. Never knew how to get there, so I took the hop the Milwaukee cable car. Wow did that work slick! This park was free so that makes it more wonderful to start out. There are even porta potties here if you need them. Also, free. Lots of benches to sit if you get tired or just want to park and enjoy the wonderful Lake Michigan view. You can even see everything going on at the festival grounds. There was a nice cool breeze off the lake when I was here. I even saw a place that offered paddle boat rental. However, I did not do this activity. Enjoy this wonderful state park. I sure did!
MoreWhile it was a bit warm, it wasn't terribly humid so I went for a walk on the lakefront. While it's hard to heat Chicago's lakefront about 90 miles south, it's vastly improved from my last visit to Milwaukee in 2013. Plenty of walking paths and easy access to the museums
MoreThe Lakeshore State Park is a huge park with trails and open areas along the lake. Lots of walking and biking options. Wonderful views of Lake Michigan.
MoreNice park along the waterfront. Behind the Summer Fest grounds. Paved trails that connect with the Hank Arron state trail. Several historical markers along the walkway. The downside, no water or bathroom facilties.
MoreOne of our last stops in Milwaukee was to see a different view of Lake Michigan. The paved path was nicely maintained and a good number of people out enjoying their early evening walks.A display on native plants caught our eye and it was not only pretty but also informative. If we only had more time to extend our walk but it was still a very refreshing walk to enjoy both the beauty of the lake and land.
