Very visually attractive and older cemetery since 1700's, grounds are well kept, and it has very narrow drives if in a vehicle, try to follow arrows, worth a visit for history

Beautiful old cemetery. So interesting to see gravestones all laid flat. Such a peaceful resting place.

This is a solemn place that is a mix of natural beauty and history. There are several entrances up and down the surrounding streets. Some of the trees are humungous and must be very old. We walked several blocks marveling at birth places, names and ages, and dates going back to the late 1700s. They do ask that you refrain from taking photos, walking pets, and running among the headstones.

This area, known as God’s Acre, houses the deceased remains of local Moravians based upon gender, marital status, and age. People are buried chronologically, regardless of wealth or status. Children are buried separately, and I believe their grave markers are smaller than the adults’. The brothers (or brethren) are buried on one side and the sisters on the other. You should take the time to visit if you are in the WSNC area!

Men were buried in one section and women in another. I thought it was strange not to be buried with your family. It is a very peaceful place.
