Passionate and energetic local theater enriches a local community. Curious Theater does an admirable job with their thought-provoking themes and stories. That said, their plays try a little too hard at times to be topical and timely, with themes that seem a tad cartoonish. There’s a reason that great plays remain great 100 or 500 years later; they address timeless themes of the human condition that resonate across cultures and eras. Many Curious plays are wonderfully thought-provoking, but they will seem painfully dated, embarrassing, or even irrelevant in 15 years. I miss the Edge Theater in Denver, which was less pedantic, but just as compelling.

We’re from out of town but have managed to get to about one production a year. This year we committed to seasons tickets. This theatre is like a good sermon that sticks for a week. We just saw Passover and are still talking about it a couple days later. I’ve never been disappointed by an off play at this intimate theatre located in an 1890 church. If there’s an intermission, there’s refreshments available upstairs. Parking is easy at the lot across the street.

Curious was such a find when we first moved to the Denver area. This is cutting-edge original works that usually take on the social issues of the day. Housed in an old church, it is quirky and fun. So many times we didn't even talk on the way home because we were processing the content and the characters. Good theater is when you can't shake the story and you take it home with you. That is certainly the case with Curious. We saw SO many productions in our 7 years in Colorado. We will certainly miss Curious and will make sure we seek it out whenever we are back in Denver.

It is certainly worth a visit - both to see the venue and to watch the thought-provoking performances.

This renovated church is a cozy venue. Well acted uncomfortable subject. I recommend the production.
