tripadvisorBe advised that this tour is no longer being offered. We found this out about an hour after it was supposed to begin last Saturday, July 20th, 2024. Though Skip was very apologetic and did refund our money, this really ruined things as we arranged our plans around this tour since it's only offered on Saturdays. We could have done a number of other things in the area, like visit the aquarium, Cannery Row, or Carmel by the Sea. Instead, after waiting outside in the cold for a tour that would never happen, we just drove by the other areas as it was too late to enjoy anything. This option to purchase tickets should be removed online.
MoreOne of the most memorable moments of recent was when my wife and I booked a ghost tour in Monterey. Gary escorted a small group of us around old Monterey in his one of a kind bus. The tour is very exciting and fascinating. Gary goes into the history and lore of the early days of Monterey starting with Spanish rule. The tour has also four stops where we got to get out and explore the early adobe homes. Did you know the legend of Zorro started in Monterey? Did you know the first practicing doctor, who had many suspicious death surrounding him, started in Monterey? I was even lucky enough to capture an image of a pair of legs in one photograph. I recommend this ghost tour to anyone who wants to explore old Monterey or even wants to have an adventure into the unknown. Also one last thing Gary has you go find a grave in a local cemetery, wow creepy. Trust me when I say I will do it again. Ryan
MoreI loved going on this ghost tour. The tour guide was very knowledgable and made it even better with his personal stories, as well. If I was still in Monterey, I would definitely go on this tour again.
MoreI captured a picture of what I believe is Zorro's sister's ghost on the balcony of her home - I have added the photo to this review. If you look at the left side of the balcony under the tree branches you can see what appears to be a figure in a white ball type gown, which was likely customary at that time. Per our guide, she is known to haunt the home and is mostly seen on the balcony. I took about five pictures from that spot, consecutively, and there was no misty figure in any of the other pictures.
MoreMy husband and I took the Ghost Tour about a year ago and we still talk about it. It was so much fun. We live in Monterey County yet didn't know many of the stories Gary told. It was during the summer so the weather was perfect even when we had to walk through the cemetery with flashlights. Definitely would recommend this tour as a fun date night, outing with friends or for a family with teens.
