Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art used to control an opponent in ways that force him to submit by using techniques such as chokes and joint manipulations. Controlling your opponent is generally easier on the ground than in a standing position, so many of the techniques used in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) are centered around the skill of being able to take an opponent down to the ground and wrestle for dominant control. A unique aspect of BJJ is being able to grapple with and submit a much larger opponent. This is done by utilizing superior leverage, grip and position upon your opponent. At the Brian Beaury Jiu- Jitsu Academy, students will start to gain a great understanding of the motions and boundaries of the human body, while getting the workout of a lifetime. At Brian Beaury Jiu-Jitsu we are dedicated to preserving the integrity of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
