tripadvisorThis was one of the worst Marriott experiences I have had. The staff was polite, but the hotel quality was just one disappointment after another. Our room had a faint odor that we could only figure had come from the pipes at the sink. It was not trapping odors the way it should. Our toilet also did not flush correctly. When I told the front desk about it, they offered to spray air freshener and said they would get the toilet fixed because they had no room to move us to. For the trouble she offered to give us a $40 credit, which was never applied and I did not realize it until a week later. The next day, maintenance brought in and installed a new toilet for us. The maintenance man was the most positive aspect of the stay, very polite, professional, and cleaned up the work area really well. The odor never went away and we purchased our own air freshener for the remainder of the stay. The standard king room is fairly small, very poor lighting, and the bathroom sink area is exceptionally tiny and minimal counter space. The sofa is one of the most uncomfortable I have sat in. It is an older property that has been renovated, but not structural changes. There were water leak stains on the ceiling throughout the common areas. The parking lot is crumbling and needs to be redone as well. There is also only one elevator so I hope it never breaks. There is very limited food and it is fairly poor quality. The last day we were there, someone did not show for work and the manager from the previous night was working the bistro. He was very kind but they were definitely struggling and several food items were served cold.Ironically, I never received a survey from Marriott on this hotel. However I did for the sister hotel across the parking lot that my adult children stayed in.I did appreciate the friendliness of the staff, but it could not overcome the disappointment of the hotel itself.
MoreHorrible experience. I had a used pair of women’s underwear inside one of my pillows and woke up with them stuck to my face. I was informed there was nothing they could do due to my company paying for the room. I asked for my room to be cleaned and changed, but when I came back my sheets still had stains on them.
MoreWe went to the bistro to get a quick bite to eat, and it turned into a disaster! We ordered buffalo wings that were flavorless chewy, and one of the dips taste like mayonnaise that was ready to turn sour! Then we ordered hamburgers that the buns were cold The cheese was cold, and the patty was barely lukewarm. We asked for condiments, and we’re only given catch-up, they said they did not have mayonnaise or mustard. We ended up only eating two of the wings and probably a third of the burger and the insulting.
MoreAfter a terrible experience at Sheraton Denver West a week ago, we decided to try the Courtyard by Marriott Denver Southwest/Lakewood on this trip to visit our son. While the hotel is decent, the sliding glass door in our room was so poorly sealed that it sounded like an open window where we could hear every single car driving by on the roadway nextdoor. It resulted in two nights of terrible sleep! We also had a very loose handle in the inside of the shower that they fixed after we brought it to their attention. The worst part was that we returned late on Sunday night after all the football games only to find that they had not serviced our room! I tried to call the Front Desk only to learn that their in-room phone doesn’t work! So, I went to the Front Desk to ask why they didn’t service our room and they told me that you have to be there for 3 days before they service the room!! What?? I asked if this was a Marriott Policy or a Franchisee Policy and he said it was a Franchisee Policy!! He gave me fresh towels, but then we realized after we were already in bed, that they did NOT replenish the coffee supplies!! So, my wife called the Front Desk from her cell phone and asked for coffee supplies. Initially, she was told they could not bring them to us, but we explained that we were already in bed, so he acquiesced and brought them to us. This was NOT the experience we expected from MARRIOTT, so we will not be using MARRIOTT again anytime soon! You can’t keep claiming COVID five years later as an excuse to NOT service hotel rooms on a daily basis!!
MoreOur family stayed here for 4 nights to enjoy the colors beginning to change in Colorado, as well as a concert at Red Rocks. From our warm welcome at check in, to a handwritten note from the management thanking us for choosing their hotel, we were well taken care of. As titanium members, we enjoyed an upgrade to a king suite with a separate bedroom. The space was nicely updated and clean. Note that in order to access the bathroom from the living space, you must go through the sleeping room. The pull out couch is VERY firm, but was clean and worked fine for kids. It felt more like sleeping on the floor with just a thin camping mat for cushion. A foam mattress pad would probably go a long way if there were a way for them to provide a little extra confort. We ate breakfast at the bistro each morning as part of our room rate package. The woman running the bistro had her hands full, as it was quite bustling each day, but handled it smoothly and efficiently. Expect to wait 10 minutes or so for a hot meal choice and specialty coffee. Pastries and regular coffee are ready promptly for a quick exit. The kids got to choose from 3 “kids meal” options as outlined in our package, which included french toast, scrambled eggs with fruit, or cereal plus a kids beverage. It worked out great for us, and we would certainly stay again on future visits.
