One of the most scenic areas in the city, John Yarbrough Linear Park is a site soaked in serenity, that makes for a perfect day outside. Running parallel to the famous Ten Mile Canal, the linear park is a favored cycling and jogging trail, frequent by plenty, young and old citizens. Peppered with marshes, idyllic trees and open fields, this is also an ideal spot to seek a leisurely break from the bustling city.

tripadvisorTook the trail from Cypress trailhead and went north. At Daniels you have to ride a quarter of a mile or so to get to a light to cross. I loved the trail; it’s in good condition and scenic. The restrooms at Cypress trailhead are clean and well maintained. Picnic tables in the shade are available at the trailheads.
MoreWalk my dog there several times a week. It is nice and well taken care of in light of the recent hurricane. If you are walking, beware of discourteous cyclists, especially those on electric bikes. Could use more comfort stations.
MoreIf you are in Fort Myers Florida and looking for exercise nearby this trail could be for you. I would not make a special trip to bike this trail. The trail is in the middle of an industrial area that contains busy streets. At the north end you are next to an airport with planes directly overhead landing and/or taking off. Along the trail you back up to a small railroad yard with dilapidated train cars under rehabilitation. You are riding your bike near a major parallel roadway and the back side of steel commercial buildings is what you observe. The trail is well paved and construction is underway for a parking facility off of the Six Mile Cypress Roadway. Currently there is no parking available at the start of the trail at this location. In my opinion this is not a picturesque bike trail you find in some major cities that allows you to escape a chaotic metro area into a serene park like atmosphere. For the immediate Fort Myers area this will be the best you will find.
MoreI do quite a bit of biking. This is a nice and long stretch where you feel safe from the drivers who are too busy texting and not checking both ways when they drive. It is an oasis for a bike rider, where you don't feel that you are taking your life in your hands just to stay healthy. Also excellent for walking, jogging, or to take scenic pictures. You can even watch the planes land at Page field.
MoreGreat 5 mile one way bike and walk spot. Especially for non vehicle path, no worries, all fun for all ages.
