tripadvisorThe sand is literally absolutely covered in goose poop. I mean just about every square inch of the sand. I can’t believe I paid $24 for 2 people to enter to be surrounded by poop. You can’t just hire one cleaner to clean the sand every morning!? 😆
MoreIt was a cool spot to go to if you have a RMP paddle board or kayak rented. Tried coming with my own kayak and didn’t have a permit so I couldn’t use my own equipment, which was the only reason we came. Overall I will never come back, they have over priced fees to even get into the park and too many silly regulations. Don’t come if you want to enjoy yourself.
MoreI have a lot to say about this reservoir so I’ll make bullet points, but first my background: I grew up in New England, swam competitively, and am used to a LOT of regulation and rules at swimming places, but this one blew those out of the water (pun intended). 1. No diving off docks - When I asked the guards about why because this seemed absurd they said the water levels raise and lower and there’s cement blocks at the bottom they don’t want people to hit. ( every dock has cement blocks at the bottom, and all lakes raise and lower). My 2 cents: The water was plenty deep enough and if that were the case, where I could jump in and hit the cement blocks, please close the docks that day because that would be unsafe to jump into as well. 2. Goose poop - everywhere on the grass3. Sand - hurts to walk on.4. Small roped in area for swimming - I sort of understand this because there’s motorized boating, but.. make it wider so it extends all the way to the grass area. Or is this area too infested with bacteria? 5. $7 per person entry fee6. I brought a cool float and was excited to use it but could only use it in the shallow end. I thought they were, once again, joking. They weren’t. Btw the shallow end is has red buoys that are maybe 10 feet from shoreline at most, and 3 feet deep. 7. The water felt dirty. 8. Every 2 hours or so someone on a loudspeaker reiterates the rules. Isn’t that a sure enough sign that you have too many rules? Overall: felt so disappointed with all the rules that it sucked the fun out of everything. I will not return.
MoreThe reservoir offers some fun activities during the summer. We had a great time renting a paddle board and enjoying the lake. Lots of power boats in the center, but one can enjoy a nice paddling near the shore.
MoreLexi at Rocky Mountain Paddle Board was amazing at setting me up with a modern, clean pontoon boat. She explained it thoroughly including guidelines for the reservoir and the boat itself. I had the reservoir mostly to myself. After I got past the no-wake buoys I was able to enjoy a nice cruising speed along the reservoir. I definitely would recommend anyone who wants a great, relaxing boating experience to check them out.
