Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre Outdoor Park ·$

Set ablaze by the fervent glow of the sun, the scarlet magnetism of the Red Rocks park is compelling as it is humbling. Looming sentinels of gradient-red sandstone cliffs pierce the skies in this geological wonderland that lies nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Quirkily christened for their shape and form, some of the formations include the Seat of Pluto and the Cave of the Seven Ladders. However, one of the most winning features of this rose-tinted rock park that has received much exposure over the years, is the Red Rocks Amphitheater. This unique outdoor venue, a sweeping concert stage corralled by a fleet of towering boulders miraculously lends itself to the excellent acoustics and has previously hosted legends like the Beatles and John Denver.

Traveled from PA primarily to see a concert at Red Rocks and glad I did. Macklemore was performing and he and his band were terrific, but the venue was the other star. I took the Red Rocks Shuttle form Union Station and that worked out well. The natural setting for the outdoor amphitheater in the soaring red rocks, looking sown on the city below is breathtaking. Over 6,000 ft elevation, so I felt it when climbing steps and I’m almost 75, but not a problem. Kind of a bucket list trip, but hope to get back there again. Highly recommend!

Red Rocks is indeed one of the best, if not the best, concert venues in the US--the setting is beautiful and awesome, and the sound is great. See a good show here and the experience is magical.Unfortunately, after the past two shows, I will only reluctantly return. For the last show I went to (John Mulaney in April), I got off the 470 exit by 7pm, thinking I'd done well to arrive a half hour+ before the slated start of the show. Traffic was backed up through the entire town, however; I finally got a parking spot at 7:45, 45 minutes later. (Previously, even with traffic, it'd never taken me more than 10 minutes to get through Morrison.) I fast-walked up the steep hill, but even at a near-4mph pace, I was 15 minutes away from getting into the venue. The worse part was the attitude of the people working there, something I've notice that's gotten bad over the past few years. For this show: I went to sit in one of the tree boxes, as I often do in order to be able to see anything from the GA distances. I turned a corner toward one, which happened to be right in front of a beer stand. A worker looked aggressively at me and snapped: Where are you going???, apparently because they didn't want traffic there, I guess unless you're in the act of buying. I explained and asked if I could still sit in the trees. (Oh. Yes.)Once in the trees, I made the mistake of draping my legs off to the side of the box. The same worker felt she needed to put her hands literally a half-inch from my legs and then make a motion to insist that my legs needed to not be dangling from the sides.I go to a lot of shows around Denver and Colorado Springs. I never get hassled at anywhere but here and Fiddler's Green, and on the rare occasion I do something they don't like (at, e.g. Ogden or Ford Amphitheater), they politely let me know. For Red Rocks management: Signage would help, so that you don't have to chastise your own customers unnecessarily and repeatedly.I've been told similar negative things about Red Rocks staff by at least a couple people, including hearing a story from a friend whose friend was kicked out as the result of a dumb incident that the Red Rocks staff deliberately and unnecessarily escalated.I don't need the headache. I see a show coming up (QotSA and Pixies) that I wouldn't mind seeing. I won't. It's a lot of money, a long drive hectic drive, a long line to get into the place. Adding unwarranted hassle to that makes it easy to pass up.A great venue with nasty staff stops being a great venue.

If you are nearby, you must come check out this place. It was a short, maybe 30 minute drive from Denver. The parking is free, even during concert times. It’s on my bucket list to come see a concert here someday. It’s awesome that they let you walk around from sunrise until 3:00 any day of the week. The museum is super cool so I highly recommend you walk around through there as well. I found it particularly interesting seeing what it used to look like and how it has changed over time. Go!

Visitors can enter for free on evenings when there are no shows. I arrived around 6p and local musicians were giving a free show! The place is amazing. It is more grand than anything I imagined. Be prepared to stay a while, even if you're not walking around, it takes some time to sit and take it all in.
