We saw the Picasso exhibit and the one detailing the history of Longmont. Both were very well done, and we enjoyed our time at the museum. We were there on a Tuesday so there were only a handful of other people there, so no line, no crowd.

Thank you to the museum for having Rebecca Centeno-Elliot present; she is eloquent and clear, extremely knowledgeable and personable. For a complex topic and an audience with a wide ranging background, she covered basic, as well as in-depth material about the sun and her specialization in it. NCAR is fortunate to have such an excellent researcher and speaker on their behalf.

This thoroughly modern museum and cultural center provides an engaging multi-media look at life on the high plains, just 35 miles north of Denver. It covers all bases, from the Plains indigenous people, the agricultural boom of the 19th to 20th centuries and the role of factories and railroad. The challenges faced by Hispanic/Latino residents and workers, and a two-year take-over by the Ku Klux Klan, are brought forward in new exhibits. WW1 and WW2 are acknowledged, along with local “low-riders.” A knowledgeable local staff and archives are on-site to assist. Admission is $8; $5 for seniors. COVID safety was observed (as of Aug. 2021)

Although this is not a childrens museume my young children love going to the museum. They like to complete the water resivour tasks in the History of Longmont and then playing in the observatory tower where they have a treehouse and other neat things for kids to play. My children have taken part in the summer camps and LOVED it so much we have signed up again this summer. The staff are wonderful and friendly (a hard find in this city).
