This place is very quiet and peaceful. You can drive off the main road up a sandy road closer to the mesa. I found some small pieces of agate while hiking around. I recommend reading a quick bit about it on Google before going. There is an old legend about the mesa. I didn;t stay the night but saw no signs that say no camping so if your looking for a nice place to just sleep in your car or a tent it seems good.

Enchanted Mesa was the home of the Acoma people until a severe storm landslide destroyed the only approach. There are no longer any ruins on the flat top. The butte is 430' high, 1,250' long and only 400' wide at its widest. The elevation at the top is 6,643'. Coronado's expedition visited the mesa in 1540 and they were the first white men to ever enter the city. Coronado described the ascent as so difficult that he and his men were sorry they had climbed to the top. He went on to say that the houses were three or four stories high and the people were abundantly supplied with corn, beans and turkeys. Sometime after his visit - no one is sure of the exact date - a great storm rumbled across the land while the villagers were working the fields below the mesa. They took shelter but watched in fear as great torrents of rain fell from the sky and the access ramp was washed away. No hiking is allowed on the Mesa.
