tripadvisorAll the tourist material raves about the trolley. We planned to use it since we were on Seawall on a bus trip. No trolley tracks there. When I called the city dept, was told that the rubber tired trolleys are city byses and only run on the weekend. No value at all.
MoreWe took the rail portion of this service from Seawall down to The Strand, $1 each and was very close to where we stayed so practical for us. It is a transportation service not a tour so driver won’t talk during the trip unless it is answering a question. They come every 30 minutes.
MoreWhile the trolley is fiscally smart ($1), and a great way to see Galveston without having to drive, please understand that this is NOT a tour service. Our trolley driver seemed to be an introvert, as he did not speak to us while boarding/unboarding, nor at any point a long the route. I guess we expected they might point out some points of interest.Definitely worth the fare to get in our of the heat/humidity for an hour, and just see all the beautiful historic homes along the route...just don't expect any type of tour guide experience. Will use in the future to get from Seawall to Strand, since Strand parking is crazy (We paid $25 at the lot we landed in).All in all, worth it just to see things while not having to drive.
MoreThis is a fun little way to see the entire seawall and the downtown area. Great price. I wish the trolley drivers gave more information about what we were looking at while driving around. We had four different drivers during our afternoon on the trolleys / tram and found them all to be the same. Mostly they just played loud music.
MoreThis was a good way to see some of the Island and it only cost $1, plus you can get a transfer to the rail trolly, which we did.
