Boise Idaho Temple Landmark

This 32,000-square-foot temple sits next to Interstate 84, but its soaring spires can be seen from even farther away. Reaching 112 feet into the sky, the tallest spire stands in front of the church, and a bubbling fountain is nearby on the well-kept grounds. Opened in 1984, the Temple's speckled walls surround the building. Be sure to walk to the eastern side of the building where you will find a hidden door, a characteristic of many Mormon temples. According to Mormon beliefs, Jesus Christ will return through this door. Unfortunately, the interior of the temple is only open to church members.

This Temple was completed in 1987 and later underwent refurbishment in 2012. The building's unique architecture and the well-kept grounds are both good reasons to visit this local landmark. Even though only recommended church members can enter the building itself, everyone can enjoy a peaceful walk around this House of God and feel God's presence near this Holy Temple.

I am always interested in driving around the temples whenever I see one. I was in Boise and drove past the temple, so I came back later and drove around the parking lot to get the 360* view. I did the same with the Meridien Temple. Of the two, I prefer the Meridien over the Boise Temple. I just like the design better, but they are both magnificent.

Even if you aren't a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, visiting the Temple property is a positive and rejuvenating experience. The landscaping and atmosphere is one of beauty and relaxation. Its always a treat often on a Friday or Saturday to see newly married couples and their families taking pictures to commemorate the wedding, and the water fountains provide a soothing white noise effect to mask the traffic on Cole Road. Its a place anyone of any faith can go to feel peaceful and positive, refreshed and ready to head back into life after spending 15 -20 minutes just meditating or contemplating things while sitting amidst the floral beauty.
