When I arrived at the hotel my room was not ready at check in time. They asked me to wait for 15-20 minutes so that my room would be finished getting cleaned. After waiting for 44 minutes I went to inquire if my room was finally ready however it was not and they said it would be another 20 minutes. I wanted over an hour for my room. When booking a hotel I expected my room to be ready by check-in time. I was very upset for the delay and asked the staff for a discount for the extra hour that I had to wait and they said there was noting they can do. I was overall very disappointed with the hotel staff.

My stay at Best Western Carlsbad By The Sea was extremely disappointing and raised serious health concerns.From the moment we entered our room, there was a strong moldy/mildew odor that was impossible to ignore. As someone with asthma and respiratory issues, the smell immediately began affecting my breathing and progressively became worse during our stay.To make matters even worse, we discovered bugs in the room. When we reported the problem, we expected the hotel to either move us to another room or take immediate steps to resolve the issue. Instead, management refused to provide us with a different room and simply offered a can of bug spray (Raid), expecting us to spray the room ourselves. That is not an acceptable solution for paying guests.Because of the moldy odor and my worsening respiratory symptoms, we had no choice but to leave the hotel early. Despite the health concerns and the documented issues with the room, management refused to provide an appropriate resolution and would not issue a refund for the unused portion of our stay.Cleanliness, guest safety, and customer service should be top priorities for any hotel. Unfortunately, our experience reflected none of those. I cannot recommend this property, especially to anyone with asthma, allergies, or other respiratory conditions. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and addresses the mold/mildew odor, pest issues, and the way guests’ legitimate concerns are handled.

The price was far too high for the quality. The property is old and outdated, and I was overcharged and had to dispute the charge. When I tried to contact the hotel, I could not even get through to anyone because the phones were down for over a week. We were also charged extra for plates and utensils, which most hotels provide at no cost. The experience was so disappointing that we left a night early. Overall, this was not the experience I expected from a Best Western.

Book the room. Location was amazing, rooms were huge, pool was warm and large area to sit, hot tub was hot. Just everything was great. We will be back
