The Farm Sanctuary is a peaceful farm in the Finger Lakes region, home to an assortment of rescued animals. The Farm is well laid out and there is an onsite cafe. I cannot describe the tranquility that comes with observing farm animals without the stressful conditions of factory farming.

Visiting the Farm Sanctuary has been on our list for years, and we were delighted to finally make it there.Seeing the animals living their lives freely and so well cared for is magical and moving.Getting to groom Diane the cow and pet the other sociable residents was a privilege. (Shout out to Hercules the goat, Joel the sheep, and the very friendly pig whose name slips my mind :-) )Our guide Julia, was a total delight - enthusiastic, friendly and very informative. The sanctuary’s location is stunning even on a drizzly day, the vegan cafe is delicious, and the gift shop has the most beautiful designed top quality merch.A totally magical place with amazing people doing amazing work.

Farm Sanctuary is a magical place where animals are treated with the love and respect they deserve. Our guided tour was an hour long and we got to meet some of the more social residents on the farm. Pietro the cow was a highlight with his big personality and need for chin scratches. Our tour-guide, Alice, was knowledgeable, friendly and ready to answer our questions about the farm and the animals. I really appreciate the deep respect they have for those who reside there, making sure the animals come to the visitors and letting them be if they wish to nap or retreat. After the tour, wanderer around a bit more and topped it off with lunch at The Kitchen, an all-vegan cafe right next to the visitor’s center. It was such a nice way to spend the first half of the day!

It was delightful to see these animals just living their lives. Our tour guide (Julia) was awesome & great with a youngster along full of questions. There is a lot to learn & many ways we can alter our habits to live less hurtful lives. Visit their cafe if you have time!

We spent a hot afternoon at the farm and fully support the work they are doing to rescue and care for abandoned and abused farm animals. The animals (pigs, goats, sheep, geese, ducks, cows etc.) are clearly loved and happy. We were hoping for more contact with more animals, but we understand that their safety and health come first. Our guide was passionate about veganism without being too pushy about it (we're pescatarians). Especially fun for families with small children. The location is stunning...in the rolling hills of the Finger Lakes and about 30 minutes or so outside of Watkins Glen.
