tripadvisorNicely laid out wildlife compound. Easy walk. Good viewing. Nice view of Cooks Inlet. We enjoyed a leisurely hike around the acreage. Had an enjoyable conversation with a retired Alaskan judge who was a volunteer.
MoreThey are quick to tell you that most of the animals lost their mother's and would not have survived in the wild so it's not a zoo per se. The range of creatures is vast and for the most part they seem to have a goodly amount of natural space. Seeing a (small) herd of Bison running together is just awesome and there are enough opportunities to photograph bears, elk, must ox, caribou, deer, and so many more. A must do .
MoreI love driving around and watching the saved animals & taking photos. The animals come from sad circumstances and get to live and breed. The Bison group was increased to transplant back out to the bush Alaska. The gift shop has low cost and higher priced keepsakes. My favorite was a stutue of mother bear and triplets to remind me of my adventure around Alaska.
MoreWe have taken many violators to Alaska to this, and they are able to see, up close, much of the animals one associates with Alaska. Well maintained, the animals are in large habitats and are able to interact more naturally with one another. All the animals are will-life rescues and are ones saved from certain death in the wild. Not a zoo, but a place of preservation, education, and restoration.
MoreMy grandson enjoyed the new born wildlife- nice shop and staff- most wig life viewed in a car drive around with good info
