tripadvisorThis was a delightful tour of a very quaint little town, Sante Fe, by a very animated seasoned lady. She was well versed in the history of Santa Fe and had little interesting tid bits of social history as well. If you are in New Mexico, Santa Fe is a place to visit. Tons of art galleries, great restaurants, and local pottery and jewelry. Had a great time. Also they do have a pretty efficient train system for transport.JEK
MoreClarice was late and showed blatant disregard for our tour guides timing. She also knew we were leaving immediately after her tour but spent most of the time telling us about restaurants and services we were not going to be able to leave. There was a little but of history. We flew by the photographic spots and stopped where there was minimal photographic opportunities.
MoreAfter reading several negative reviews about Clarice, I requested that my group of 13 be with either Tony or Michael. Clarice told me at the last minute they were unavailable because they were assigned to the public tour. We later saw him with 2 people on his tram. She took our group of professionals and avid travelers herself to self promote her company. There was too much inconsequential information about the movie stars who frequently came to Santa Fe, went on and on about movie productions and was rude to my guests by throwing down her mic. After complaining that the fumes from the tram were making them nauseous, she yelled out move to the front! This was supposed to be an overview of Santa Fe and a 10 mile tour. I'd be surprised if we went 2 miles and were dropped off at the Plaza with no recommendations on restaurants or places of interest. I would only recommend taking this tour if you were assured that Tony or Michael were going to be the guide.
MoreWe were lucky to be able to jump on a tour with Michael. He showed us how to look at historic Santa Fe with an architectural eye. His insights helped us learn the history of the town and state. Michael's knowledge added layers to our tourist experience. His tour was the highlight a great trip.
MoreWe always choose, on the first day, a tour of any city we visit to get an overview of the sights and high points so we can arrange the rest of our visit. We'd chosen a different tour but happened to be on the opposite corner of the Plaza in Santa Fe where Custom Tours by Clarice was ready to go for the 2pm tour, so we bought tickets and proceeded to wait the fifiteen minutes until start time. The guide, Tony, warned us that if he only had two people, he would cancel the tour and we'd have to come back at 4pm. He wandered off for a bit and seemed distinctly irritated when he returned to find that one more person had joined the queue. However, the tour began and, to his credit, he did a good job of explaining the history and sights of downtown Santa Fe. Then we stopped for a water break and it began to rain. Evidently we were visiting the city in the middle of monsoon season, he said, which means a short rainstorm about the same time every day. Though we were in a covered but open-air bus and weren't getting wet at all, Tony cut the tour short and took us directly back to where we started. By the then the rain had all but stopped, and if the guide had just waited a few extra minutes on the water break, we might have been able to complete the entire tour. Really irritating that their tour was more expensive and then cut short. We passed other tour busses, Loretto Lines, which was our original choice. Their busses were packed full and they were still going in the rain. Wish we'd gone with them! All in all, just an okay experience. Would not recommend this company to other travelers.
