Challenging but worthwhile hiking trip up to Lake up to Lake Nambi 11,240 alt for a breathtaking view of the Los Pecos Mountains. The trails are well marked, but very difficult trails mostly uphill to include some uphill return trails back to the parking area. This day was cool, but there were plenty of mosquitoes enroute so we sprayed bug spray and had lots of water. If you're looking to burn about 1800 calories and 20,000 steps this is the trail for you. Check your forecast so you don't get caught by the sudden thunderstorms. Lightning strikes are very bad in this area. Enjoy.

Fantastic trek with 6 people. Trail 270 from trail 260 had many blow down trees and is not a recommended trail. The rest of the trails on our route had the typical challenges including a few blow down trees. The Pecos Wilderness is a wonderful creation and I am always in awe of it every time I have the pleasure of visiting it.

Backpacking from 8400 feet to 11,500 Trail was rough and breathtaking above 9000 feet. Saw no other humans for4 days. Forest heavily impacted by fires and in some cases caused trekking to be difficult. Few vistas but an inspiring journey.

If you love to hike, Pecos Wilderness area is always a pleasure. We went to Stewart Lake last time we were there. However, know that the forest is dying. Climate change...

The wilderness, fishing, hiking, camping is beautiful. But it is not a place to travel to if you are a single female or even in a group. If you are going to go, make sure you are armed as the locals prey on women. I have had more than one problem up in Pecos and so have my friends, I know longer visit that area. Beware!
