Do not come to this lake unless you enjoy being harassed by game wardens and police. They are everywhere and extremely rude. It is also very expensive and the water is not accessible without a boat

My fiancé and I drive out about once a week. We always have so much fun. The trash at the campsites has been getting bad but it’s not the parks fault it’s the jerks that left it. Overall it’s not super easy to find a place to get into the water but when you do it’s worth it!

If the office is closed, DO NOT use the self serve kiosk for camping. We did and there were no spots available. I paid $20 for electric hookup and drove in to find all of the camping, hookups and primitive, were full. I spoke with a deputy/constable and he said they were beyond full. So, we headed back home to Lubbock. I called the office on Monday and was advised I could only get a refund in person. We will not be going back to Alan Henry for any reason, ever!

Day trip for the kids. Fun, clean place for picnic like activity. Park and playground on location as well.

The water in the lake looks beautiful from the few spots you can actually see it. Once you get down to it there is trash everywhere. Would be a good idea to hand out color coded trash bags, different color every week, half priced camping if you go fill a bag and bring it to the office before you pay. Might keep people a little more conscious of picking up after themselves as well. Also when you pay for a spot you should be able to pick an available spot from a list to prevent people from squatting on the campsites all day when they didn’t even pay to camp.
