John Lackey opens his studio for showings occasionally, and the door is generally open when he is working there. His work is split between block prints (mostly natural subjects), small abstract paintings (flowing, colorful), and large landscape paintings in his signature style. The large landscapes are gorgeous, mostly Kentucky subjects. He blends the realism of light, reflections, water, and atmosphere with surrealist embellishments in a truly masterful way.

This artist has an interesting studio next to a coffee house/ doughnut shop on North Lime. We stopped in, and he engaged us in a lovely conversation about his art, about Lexington, and gave us some great recommendations of places to go.
