Left Bank Books Greeting Cards ·$$

Left Bank Books should be a first stop for newcomers to St. Louis. Located in the Central West End, it offers the feeling of a bookstore that might be found in Chicago's Hyde Park community, including information about everything that's going on in the area and books on how to find it. Left bank, as with other resale bookstores, has treasures that popular, franchise booksellers just can't provide. Also, unlike many resale and vintage bookstores, they carry new and used best sellers, popular titles, and old favorites. Authors from all over the world come to promote their projects, sign books, and share expertise through lectures. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and even the store cat likes visitors.

I stopped in to get a book to read on my road trip. The friendly staff was able to find the book I was looking for within minutes of my arrival.

Loved this indie bookstore. A very wide selection of titles, including for children, travel, cooking, etc. in addition to the typical fiction/nonfiction. We left with a stack of books and enjoyed our experience.

This delightful independent bookstore on the west side of Saint Louis has a wide variety of genres, including books for children. I always look for a romance section (a good bookstore knows they can make tons of money on romance), and they had a small trendy section of trade paperbacks. Used books are downstairs. Right near a good ice cream shop, a good taco place, and other restaurants.

We spent a summer weekend in St. Louis and headed to the Central West End specifically for Left Bank Books. We were not disappointed! It’s an absolutely fantastic local bookstore, great for browsing and buying.Staff could not have been more helpful. We had a couple of books on our list, and they were knowledgeable about them and helped us find them. They were also just super-friendly and obviously loved reading and working at the store. The store screams “anchor of the neighborhood:” tons of locals, a huge selection of books on-hold for purchasers, a fun list of author readings and upcoming events. It’s also just a great bookstore. The curation was fantastic; it’s one of those places where you just stumble across stuff about which you may not have heard, but you develop interest in. Lovely mix of fiction, history, current events, art books, etc. Downstairs, there was a small section of used books with some fun cookbooks, as well as an excellent young adult section. Although the focus is definitely on books (as it should be), there was also a superb selection of cool cards.A must-see for anyone who loves reading and local bookstores. What a pleasure to support a local business during our visit to St. Louis. Just leave some room in your suitcase for all the books you might buy!

I could have spent hours working around this shop. They have everything. They have a lot of discounted books and they have the best sellers today. Someone told me there was a cat roaming around the store but I couldn’t see it. A fun way to spend half an hour.
