tripadvisorI drove 2 hours from the east coast with my 3 Boston Terriers to the Bonita Dog Beach this morning and it did not disappoint! We had to wade across the tidal pool to access the beach, and the dogs loved it. Very clean and calm waters allow you to wade out pretty far to the sand bar. Shallow enough in low tide for my medium size pups. Dozens of dogs joined the beach and all were friendly and played nicely with each other. There is a fresh water shower to rinse the dogs at the parking area. I will definitely be visiting on a regular basis!
More⚠️ Safety concern – dog attackI’m sharing this to raise awareness for anyone visiting Bonita Springs Beach. On May 2nd around 6:30–7:00 PM (near 8800 Estero Blvd), a light brown/tan pit bull (medium size), off-leash with an electronic collar, ran directly toward us and attacked my small dog.We had two dogs, one was pulled away, but the pit bull grabbed and bit our smaller schnauzer, who required emergency surgery. The owner refused to provide his information and left. While I understand this is a public beach, it was very concerning to see a dog off-leash and not under control in this environment. Please be cautious and keep a close eye on your pets.
MoreWe just took our dog there this evening on leash as soon as we arrived two large aggressive intact male Rottweilers came charging at us and our dog attempting to attack her so if you plan on going there, please be aware that some people think it is a good idea to take their aggressive dogs with behavioral issues out in a public setting, where other families and their doggies are trying to enjoy the beautiful beach that it happens to be always be on the lookout for dogs not even your own other people’s as I would hate to see a sweet dog lose their life while trying to enjoy the beach. Also yes I am aware it is an off leash park but just wanted to give people a heads up for planning future visits to this park.
MoreThe beach is nice and everyone is very friendly and understanding of other’s dogs. The biggest downside is getting there. You park and walk a block through sludgy muddy water up to your knees. Really slimy between your toes. If it’s high tide, you may need to carry your smaller dog. We went on a Saturday and it wasn’t too busy, plenty of room. Otherwise, your dog will absolutely love running around, playing with other dogs, and splashing in the ocean!
MoreGreat dog park, friendly people & friendly dogs. Super clean! Everyone is on top of their fur babies and as soon as one goes #2 it gets cleaned right up! Different fences areas for small medium and large dogs! Will come again!
