tripadvisorRubbish. Full of people with daddies credit card to go shopping, poor overpriced restaurants and shops, and tables selling cheap tat at high prices to bored tourists. We left. Nothing of interest there, and the love sign sprayed on the wall possibly done by a blind child is just awful. The WORST place in Texas I’ve visited.
MoreIt was certainly a lively area, with tons to see and do. Kinda had a mini-Vegas feeling. Parking was challenging if you don't understand the process, but definitely worthwhile.
MoreA bit of a walk from Downtown Austin but well worth it for the smart, upmarket area which has loads of independent bars and restaurants plus some shops too.
MoreI intentionally wanted to stay in the SoCo District, so I booked my Airbnb as close to the area as possible, and ended up in the nearby neighborhood of Galindo. The Galindo area borders west of South 1st Street and south of West Oltorf Street, which was a nice area to stay. I found that Travis Heights and Bouldin Creek are the neighborhoods that have the best of the SoCo District, with all the great diners in the area, along with many unique shops and of course, lots of cool murals. Be sure you visit the “Greetings from Austin” mural that is located on South 1st Street and West Annie Street, in the neighborhood of Bouldin Creek.
MoreFun shopping strip with unique stores. Absolutely loved the decor in all of the stores and was a welcome respite to the heat.
