tripadvisorStopped here on the way to Barboursville Winery. Nice shop - small with lots of knicknacks to look thru. The owner had a new lab puppy that chased a tennis ball - was fun and worth the stop.
MoreI love this out of the way shop. Every spring I must visit to get some of the most unusual plants and gifts.I have been coming here for years and it's always a pleasure to see what's new. The best plants I've ever gotten for my garden come for this lovely shop. I purchased edible flowers this year and eucalyptus last year. The butterfly bushes I got a few years ago are bigger than any I've ever gotten from anywhere else.I also can't resist the unusual gifts and local art work in the barn!!If you haven't been your really missing out!!! Best little shop in Virginia!!!
MoreThe Gallery is not actually in the town but about 2 miles outside. You go right past it if you aren't looking for the sign. You turn into an unpaved driveway and head up to a farmhouse setting. The small parking area only accommodates three cars at a time. Then, you get out and walk across the yard to an old building with a handmade welcome sign. There is a mish-mosh of jewelry, plates, plants, planters, hanging baskets and who-knows-what. I didn't see anything that interested me but my wife found a few things.
MoreBetween Barboursville on U.S. 33 in Orange County, VA and Somerset on Constitution Highway (Route 20) there is a delightful gift shop on a farm (watch for the sign) not to miss. Let's say you have been to Horton and/or Barboursville vineyards, had a great lunch at Stone Fire Grill (intersection of US 33 and Route 20), and are on your way to President Madison's home at Montpelier, allow time to stop at Sarah Memery's gift shop. She has an wonderful selection of new and old crafts and consignments and something to say about each. Her shop is just the place to spend time browsing, buying or talking. Outside, the cat may greet you, the chickens will keep an eye on you, and you will love the Virginia countryside even more that you knew you would. Buy a plant, a candle, a vintage cookbook or local weaving and crafts. Then go on down the road to President Madison's home. Enjoy!
MoreOnly open Thurs-Sun you'll want to fit it in your schedule. Antiques, hand-crafted work, vintage pieces, seasonal plants, sometimes fresh eggs, and the friendliest owner you've ever met.Not your typical country gift shop. Very low priced goods with high quality.
