Trip was actually February 2017 . It was not difficult to get to the Bike Barn by car. Park at Ft Wilderness and take the internal shuttle to the Bike Barn.Loved riding off-road and exploring some of the less-seen areas. Got to see one of the special parade carriages kept in the horse barn. It is normally kept behind glass, but our tour guide opened it all up so we could get up close and personal pics.

My wife and I are experienced Segway riders and tour(ist). Of all of the Segway tours I've done, this was my least favorite. Although the scenery is pretty, it got monotonous fairly quickly. The segways are set to the turtle speed regardless of rider experience/ability. And lastly, this was the most costly Segway tour I've yet to experience. The required training and skills test are practically the same anywhere you tour, so don't be afraid to look elsewhere for your first Segway experience. On a positive note, the paths are desolate and free of obstructions and heavy traffic. The pace is slow going.... Me - rather enjoyed the boat rides and exploring around much more... and those we free of charge.

I did the Segway tour at Epcot years ago and loved it. I finally got a chance to do this tour and I highly recommend it. It’s a 5 mile tour of Fort Wilderness with some access to areas I didn’t know existed. The first half hour was training and then we were ready to roll. The all terrain Segway was very cool. I was a little nervous going off road, but everyone did great. We had 2 tour guides who were excellent. As is true in all Disney toured, we were treated to some interesting facts and trivia about Fort Wilderness. We also had a photo stop. There were only 4 people on our tour. My only complaint was Disney did away with the tour pin, which is a bummer. I highly recommend this tour. Park at the fort entrance and take one of the internal buses to the bike barn

I have been on several Segway tours in other cities and figured this would be a neat tour to try. We booked the 11:30am tour, they also offer one at 8:30am. We took a boat from the Contemporary to Fort Wilderness (not Wilderness Lodge), grabbed some breakfast at P&J takeout, and then took an internal bus to the Bike Barn at the Meadows section of the campground. Allow plenty of time for travel here from anywhere on Disney property. The Segways have a compartment on the front for storing a small bag or other small items, along with a place for a water bottle (one bottle of water is provided). They also have lockers for $1.00 in quarters for any larger items you need to store. Once we checked in and signed a waiver, we were fitted for helmets (required) and participated in an extensive safety and training session. This was much more in-depth than any other Segway training I’ve done for other tours. Even if you’ve never ridden a Segway, don’t hesitate to try this tour. If after the training, you still don’t feel comfortable, you can opt out and get a refund. The tour itself was interesting, we were shown many areas of the campground, visited the Tri-Circle D ranch where the horses who pull the Main Street trolley and horse-drawn carriages live, and stopped at a couple of other scenic locations. Our guide took our picture on the Segway in front of Bay Lake and we had plenty of opportunities to step off the Segway to get feeling back in our feet. We saw some deer and lots of different plants and vegetation. Most of the tour is in the woods, so even though it was hot out, we were mostly in the shade. This is not a behind-the-scenes tour of any type. Our guide was JC and our safety guide was Fanya. They were both pleasant and Fanya was right on point with maintaining our safety. JC provided information about our surroundings in a matter-of-fact manner which at times seemed condescending. Perhaps it was because of the material he has to work with—campground and woods. Unlike other Segway tours I’ve done, there was no “freestyle” time to ride the Segway in an open space. You ride with the tour at a speed no greater than 6mph over varied terrain and stay in a single file line at all times. Not surprising given Disney’s commitment to safety. Overall, I’d recommend this tour if you’re interested in riding a Segway and haven’t been to Fort Wilderness before. It would also be fun to do this closer to Christmas time to see how the campers have decorated their campsites. It was a good experience and something fun to do outside the parks.
