tripadvisorWe had an interesting tour of the cheese factory and Tony was very informative as he explained what we saw from the viewing windows. If you aren't at the Alp and Dell cheese store at the right time for the tour (10:00), you can go to the viewing windows without Tony's narrative, but you'd be missing out on a fun experience. The adjoining cheese store (Alp and Dell) had many samples of delicious cheeses to try. When we left, Tony gave us an amazing send-off yodel which made our day! It was definitely worth a visit.
MoreWe live in Illinois and drive up to Monroe Wisconsin at least twice a year. We hit several spot while we are up there, but this one is a must.
MoreWe stopped in last week for a self-guided tour and to shop for local cheeses. Samples allowed us to taste the cheeses before we bought any, and we ended up buying plenty.
MoreIf you consider this was started not too long ago by a Swiss, you don't really see that being represented anymore. Pricing in their store, even for cheeses they produce is still premium. The tour is really some large windows to observe folks making cheese and a video.
MoreWe didn't get to take the tour, but the viewing area was open so we could see where the cheese was made, very interesting. We also sampled and bought several kinds of cheese.
